OCCOQUAN RESERVOIR HOUSE

Set on a wooded waterfront lot, the Occoquan Reservoir House is designed to take full advantage of its natural surroundings while providing privacy from the neighboring property. This custom home is oriented toward the water and surrounding woods, with bedrooms and main living spaces positioned to capture the views. The garage serves as a natural buffer between the home and its neighbor, while the outdoor living spaces extend the connection to the landscape. A spacious deck connects directly to the interior living areas, and a screened porch is tucked behind the garage to preserve the water views and keep the living room’s floor-to-ceiling windows unobstructed. Natural materials and finishes were selected to complement the wooded setting. Oak flooring, stair treads, and quarter-sawn oak cabinetry feature warm tones that echo the color and texture of the surrounding tree trunks, creating a cohesive connection between the home’s interior and its natural environment.
