POND COTTAGE

This project entailed renovating and adding onto a dilapidated concrete block structure on a rural property in Loudoun County, Virginia. The ideal setting for a weekend retreat includes fields, a pond, woods and a stream. We removed the roof and attic to add a second floor with bedrooms and a bath. The first floor was gutted and completely renovated including the expansion of the living room. The basement was finished with a game room, laundry and storage. A wrap around porch was added to overlook the pond and woods. The combination of metals, several species of wood, stone and stucco lend interest to the composition and pay tribute to the natural surroundings.
