BRIDGE HOUSE

We designed a large side addition in keeping with the scale and style of the original bungalow. We linked the new and old traditional structures with a modern transition piece. The transition piece was conceived of as a bridge between the new private space and the renovated house with its home offices. The resulting bridge and the stair tower containing it took on a modern style to emphasize the break between the two traditionally styled wings and to reference and incorporate the rear corner tower of a twelve year old addition. The steel, detailing and spirit of the stair and bridge is carried through in the column table and detailing of the renovated kitchen which is within the modern tower portion of the previous addition.
